Comments about Walker Universal Catalytic Converter:

I mostly like this catalytic converter because it took of my CEL. It has no real advantage over stock but for that price you won't find a better cat IMO. Its a bit louder than stock if you like things quite but i have a complete performance exhaust with this cat, and now my VW Jetta 2.0 sounds like a BMW M3. Your passengers in the back may not like it if you have other exhaust work, but you will be certainly turning heads in a good way if you do. With a stock exhaust it will probably sound just fine.

Comments about Walker Universal Catalytic Converter:

Just want to start off by saying that the online customer service specialist I talked to was wonderful! He even got me a $40 discount on this item. But then the trouble began. I did order over a holiday so some delay was to be expected. However, I was sent a delivery confirmation on Dec. 31 (2 days after ordering)and told the order had shipped. Payment was withdrawn from my account and no further information was ever available for me. I had 2 different customer service calls where I was provided absolutely no concrete information. It wasn't until Jan. 5 that I actually got any kind of shipping information on a third call. Finally recieved that part on Jan. 7. The run around was exhausting and I feel unnecessary. Bottom line, I most likely will not order online again if this is how it's done. That being said, the catalytic converter itself was fine!

The Walker Universal Catalytic Converter - Part No. 93252 will slide over the exhaust pipe and it needs to be welded. Unfortunately I do not see a universal catalytic converter that does not require welding for your exhaust pipe. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

its going to be welded. And they snap easily at the weld line when you have the car in sport if automatic due to the lowering of the suspension.

  • Q:

What is the purpose of a Catalytic Converter
Asked on 11/9/2012 by MC from Gurnee,IL

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The main function of a catalytic converter is to burn unburned exhaust gases that exit a vehicle's engine. By burning these unburned exhaust gases, a catalytic converter lowers the emissions output of a vehicle's exhaust. It also impede normal exhaust flow, which causes the exhaust exiting a vehicle's engine to slow down, a process that gives the catalytic converter more time to act upon the exhaust gases. On the other hand, it reduces hydrocarbon exhaust emissions, which are created when air and gas is burned inside of a vehicle engine and carbon monoxide emissions are also significantly reduced by the burning actions of a catalytic converter. As carbon monoxide gases are natural by-products of engine combustion, and catalytic converters help to lower these emissions by re-burning exiting engine exhaust gases.
For compatibility of this part with your vehicle, please provide your vehicle make, model and engine specification.

  • Q:

does this converter get rid of the foul smell of the oem converter?
Asked on 11/2/2012 by Duke from Wilmington, NC

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

A foul smell is the most common sign of a bad catalytic converter. If you smell what seems to be a rotten egg and it gets stronger over time, the catalytic converter is not working properly. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
