Comments about Walker Flange Repair Kit:

This flange was perfect for my application. The flange between the muffler and the catalytic converter rusted off causing the pipes to seperate. The muffler connecting pipe was still solid, as was the flange on the catalytic converter. I tapped the bolts with a hammer to loosen them, just tap them, if you hit too hard you will bend the old flange. Then I put a socket on them to try and turn the bolts, but the nut was rusted fast, so the whole assembly was turning. I used a grinder to remove the old bolts. Then I ran into a problem with the Tenneco hardware kit I purchased to use with this repair. The shoulder bolts are too large to fit the holes on the flange. I see others reccomend grinding or drilling, but I chose to replace the bolts with longer bolts and washers to compress the spring. Besides that small problem the flange worked flawlessly.

This was a perfect fit on my 02 Dakota. I used it to reattach the cat to the manifold on the passenger side. Needed no modifications. I attached it with 3/8-16x2 1/2 flange bolts. Easy access through the wheel well after removing the plastic liner.

Comments about Walker Flange Repair Kit:

Great idea, saved replacement of perfectly good y-pipe/cat converter on my 2003 Dodge Dakota 4.7 but was NOT ready to use out of the bag. Some mods were required. The inside flare that contacts the pipe was not uniform all around, it had no angle where the bolts go that connects the two halves together. I ground that away with a die grinder. I also ground each radius to fit the angle of my exhaust pipe flare better. Then I used 8mm flat washers as spacers to make the bolt holes line up with the bolt holes in the exhaust manifolds. I used 7 washers on each flange bolt. I also used better quality grade 8 5/16" bolts to hold the flanges together. I took two pictures, I hope that I can upload them here so everybody can see what I did & how they look when installed. I would recommend to a friend but advise him to expect some work being required first.

Comments about Walker Flange Repair Kit:

It does what it's designed to do, however, it wasn't an easy bolt on as I would have hoped it would be. With some grinding off of what was left of the old flange, and then adjusting the replacement, it does the job and saved me from buying a new catalytic converter. The original converter was still in working order except for the flange, so, I was thankful that this replacement was available!

Comments about Walker Flange Repair Kit:

Used on 03 Dodge Ram 1500 van 5.2 Liter right side exhaust pipe connection to manifold. Pipe size is 2" and flange bolts 3 1/2" on center & not rusty. Used die grinder with 3" cut off wheel to get old bolts off. Hammered remainder of old rusty bolts out of manifold. Be careful with die grinder around oil filter or U will be doing an oil filter change, oops!(oil change due,so no matter) 2 ea.3/8"-16 X 2-1/2" bolts w/ keps lock nuts to reinstall. 3 hours total time.

                      A:

I'm glad to assit, Wayne! When installing this Walker Flange Repair Kit (Part No. 36132), I suggest that you try to remove as much of the old flange as possible without damaging the exhaust pipe. You'll need room to install the new bolts into the repair kit and the old flange could be in your way. This will vary depending on the current flange that is on your vehicle.

You may be able to remove the bolts from your current exhaust and only have to replace the bolts and gasket as well. For a better idea of how to repair the exhaust on your vehicle, I suggest utilizing a repair manual. You may also find that a forum dedicated to your vehicle may help you find additional information about the exhaust repair as well.
