Comments about Walker Flange Repair Kit:

I used this to repair a rusted out exhaust flange on the exhaust side of the downstream catalyctic converter on an '01 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 4x4. The Flange repair kit is solidly built and comes with the necessary pieces to install the repair kit over the existing pipe. You have to figure out the right lengh bolts to use to fasten it to the other flange though. Most cases require 3/8" 1.25 pitch bolts in lengths of about 2 inches.

The biggest problem that I had with this item was that the flange itself was not wide enough to match up perfectly with my stock exhaust flange, so I had to stack a few spacers in between each side of the flange so that the outside of the flange was further out than it would normally be in order for the bolts coming through from my exhaust flange could go through the repair kit holes and secure to it. Using the washers worked well and the flange repair kit holds the two pieces together very tightly. The other negative is that the kit now rattles against my converter pipe quite a bit when I drive, probably due to the space between the pipe and the flange that is now there as a result of using the washer to add width to it. I'm going to try to wrap some sort of heat-resistant rubber or other padding material between it to resolve the rattling.

This seems like a good problem so far aside from the width problem and has held up solidly for the past 6 weeks despite the rattling.

Comments about Walker Flange Repair Kit:

The flange on the rear of the catalytic converter rusted out. So, I used 2 of these clamps to reconnect the exhaust pipe to the converter. Save me from replacing the hold exhaust system.

Comments about Walker Flange Repair Kit:

Quick fix for what could have been a major exhaust project at the manifold. A little to much grinding and cutting to get the old ones off but all in all it works well and I ould use it again given the alternative of dropping the manifold.

      • Q:

Is the Walker Flange Repair Kit of the 2-1/4 OD pipe a good fit for a 2000 Dakota 4.7L V-8 driver side manifold to pipe joint? If not which one should I use?
Asked on 12/4/2014 by Alexander from Rockville, MD

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

I'm happy to help, Alexander! There are no 'Exact Fit' flange repair kits for your 2000 Dodge Dakota that will be listed on AdvanceAutoParts.com. I was able to find that another owner of a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a 4.7L V8 was able to repair their exhaust with Walker Part No. 36132 on their downpipe and Walker Part No. 36131 on the manifold side.

As with any custom project, your mileage may vary. The only 'Exact Fit' repair you will have for this project is to replace the manifold (Dorman Part No. 674-909) and catalytic converter (Bosal Part No. 079-3136 [4WD] or Walker Part No. 56095 [2WD]) or have a local exhaust shop do a custom repair. If you prefer to have a mechanic do the work, try our 'Need expert help?' link further down this page.
