  • Q:

I asked previously about additional materials needed to complete my replacement of my original converter. I have a 2007 pontiac g5 gt 2.4L. If the original gaskets and mounting brackets are still in working order will I need different ones in order to complete this install? If so, could you recommend gaskets and brackets for me?

      A:

No, both catalytic converter and flex pipe are different.

    • A:

Yes and No. Yes, Meaning on this particular system, the flex pipe which joins to the flange of the exhaust manifold is part of the catalytic converter assembly. No, meaning there is an aftermarket flange that cant be bought for those faulty designed flex pipes that blow out over time. The new design is much more sturdy. So in conclusion for the DIYer, the easy solution is to buy a new catalytic converter (not the least expensive). For price minded"ers", a new flanged can be bought, and labor to cut pipe and weld on new flange.
