  • Q:

If the vehicle is parked for an extended period of time, say 2 or 3 years, can these plug or go bad on there own due to moisture or corrosion from the vehicle not being run?? Also, if these are bad, can they burn or otherwise harm the valves in my engine?? Vehicle is a 1997 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L V-6 engine.

Yes, the possibility is high for the catalytic converter to go bad when not used for years. In this parked condition it is unlikely that a bad catalytic converter will harm the engine. For any further assistance please feel free to call 1-877-238-2623 and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
