Noisy

By

Comments about Wagner ThermoQuiet Severe Duty Semi-Metallic Brake Pads (4-Pad Set):

These seem to be good performing pads, but they are sooo squeaky! I have replaced them several times and still they squeak.

I have them on Chevy HD.

I would not recommend these, but go with a good Ceramic instead.

FYI: Wagner Customer service says noise is not a qualify reason for warranty... So I would recommend another brand as well since they do not like helping their customers.

Comments about Wagner ThermoQuiet Severe Duty Semi-Metallic Brake Pads (4-Pad Set):

I work in a large fleet shop that uses the Wagner SD pads exclusively. When it came time to replace the pads on my 2003 1500 I was already leaning towards these pads.

I bought my truck used, and the dealer replaced all the pads and rotors prior to my purchase, naturally they used the cheapest pads they could get. As I use my truck to haul a trailer full of lawncare equipment (3000lb) and always a few hundred pounds of material in the bed (grass clippings, mulch, sod, etc) I didnt expect the pads to last long, as I had to stand on the pedal to get it slowed down.

After putting these pads on, and burninshing them (seating them) properly and allowing them to cool, the difference is amazing. The stopping ability is alot more comfortable, even when compared to factory pads. If you haul or tow, get these pads, you will like them alot.

If you haul or tow, stay away from ceramic pads. You will get more stopping ability from semi metalic. The trade off is that you will have more brake dust, and a higher chance of brake noise. I have had mine on for a while, and even in the fleet shop, we rarely saw or heard these pads making noise.

Overall, if you tow or haul, these pads will not let you down. Yes, they are more expensive than the cheapest ones you can find, but they work so much better it will be money well spent. Plus coupons can be found to make them more reasonable. I can't stress this enough, drop the extra dollars for better pads. They could easily mean the difference between a close call and a serious accident. My stopping distances (even when loaded and towing the trailer) have been reduced exponentially with nothing more than swapping out the cheap pads for these.

2 wheel steer and 4 wheel steer. GM had a very rare 4 wheel steer option. It cost about $6,500.00 extra MSRP.

For the front even though AAP website's specs says "Rear" & when doing a search for my truck for "rear only" these still came up. But when we went to store, we took old pads with us, these are a lot bigger than the rear pads on the truck. Process of elimination & patient AAP employee we found the right pads for our truck. Can't wait to see him today, while picking up rotors, & tell him we found those pads are for our truck but for the front. I'm sure the AAP employee we had yesterday will be happy to hear we found an answer to the mystery. He really put a lot of time into locating the correct pads when his comp says these are for the "Rear" and they clearly aren't.
