Comments about Wagner ThermoQuiet Semi-Metallic Brake Pads - Front (4-Pad Set):

3/4 ton Diesel with tow package. These pads are a mixed bag. I like the strong stopping performance and total silence. I don't like the excessive dust and sometimes problematic (when cool:the pad, not the weather) grabbiness.
The grabbiness is probably vehicle specific. Its hard to imagine the Wagner premium pad exhibits the issue on all vehicles.
And... I'd rather have a dusty pad than one that didn't wear at all. Forget lifetime warranty on brakes or fluids. That's a bad sign.

    • Q:

Do I use the metal pieces on the upper and lower sliding guide surface or let it slide on just the cast pieces of the caliper bracket?

        A:

Sorry, I am not sure what you are asking. The pads should rest on the abutment hardware that attaches to the the caliper for the designated areas where the pads go. If you are missing the hardware, you will need to replace it. The pads will not slide properly if you put them directly on the cast iron of the caliper.
