I have used wagner break pads on my service trucks over the past 8 years , averaging 65 K a year on each one. I used to have to change the front rotors with every pad change using inferior pads due to hot spots causing a stutter. With the wagner pads the rotors lasted thru 3 pad changes.

Q:Putting brake pads on 2004 Mercedes ML 350.......Question - Do I need any kind of special tool to remove the calipars?
A:Replacement of front and rear pads on the ML350 is an easy task, even if you've never done it before. If the front brake pads are worn down, the rears are probably not far behind. Tools required when replacing the Front (Wagner ThermoQuiet® Brake Pads - Front - Part No. MX760) or rear brake pads: 9mm hex head tool, best to get one that will accept a 3/8" drive socket, 7mm hex head tool, best to get one that will accept a 3/8" drive socket, 7mm hex head tool, wrench style for rear, large "C" clamp to push the piston back in the caliper, brake caliper lube for guide pin if not replacing the pin, a few screwdrivers, channel locks and vice grips if you don't have a 7mm all head wrench, brake cleaner and rags. Once you have removed the wheels, use a pair of pliers or screwdriver to remove the retaining spring. Once the carrier bolts are removed, you'll have to get the caliper free. Rock it back and forth with a large screwdriver, spray some brake cleaner on it to help clean it, and also put the screwdriver between the rotor and brake pad to push the pistons back slightly to gain clearance. It should come up with relative ease. Q:break in procedure for these pads?
A:As long as you install them correctly and bleed the air out of the system there really isn't much you have to do. One thing i recommend is scrape the pad surface against concrete to scuff it up before installing. You might also take some sand paper to both sides of the brake rotors to scuff them up. Doing these two things will help with the seating of the brake pads to the rotors.
