Comments about Wagner ThermoQuiet Ceramic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set):

2004 Chevy Impala rear pads: Quality pads that I have installed on other vehicles. Had problem installing 1 of 4 pads. The backing plate notch had to be filed a little bit to fit into the groove of the new braking hardware kit. The groove in the pad was not square.

Comments about Wagner ThermoQuiet Ceramic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set):

I have been in the Automotive Industry for 40 years on the Mfg side as well as the Sales side. Thermo-quiet is the one and only product I recommend; hands down. I am through with do-over brake jobs, pulsations, squealing and busted knuckles. Do it right the first time and buy quality parts- no comebacks or irate customers which results in profit-loss.

              • Q:

I own a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1L engine. I only drive the car very sparingly, about 3000-5000 miles annually. I have semi-metallic pads on all 4 ABS wheels. However, because I don't drive often the back pads and rotors become rusty. Also, the car is vibrating and pulsing. I have already had to cut the rear rotors and then buy new ones because of the warping and deep gouges in the last 2 years and they need cut or replaced again. I was wondering if I can put organic or similar pads on the rear and keep the semi-metallic on the front. I want to keep the front pads because I just replaced them and they have a lifetime warranty. I was thinking the softer organic pads will not rust up or ruin my rotors nearly as fast. I'm not sure if it is recommended or if it's safe to "mix" the pads. Please let me know if this will help my braking system.

                  A:

Other pads such as the ceramic or organic ones can be used on your vehicle. However, if the vehicle recommend semi-metallic pads, the organic or ceramic pads will wear out a lot faster than usual because the car is not meant to work with those pads.
