can I use this in my 2005 ford Taurus?
        Asked on 8/2/2014 by n

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

I'm glad to assist you! According to the records, your 2005 Ford Taurus requires the use of an equivalent to Ford Mercon ATF. I don't want to recommend a hydraulic power steering product, part number 602241, where the manufacturer utilizes an actual automatic transmission fluid product. We do however offer either Valvoline Dex/Merc ATF or MaxLife ATF products for your application. You may use either product as a top-off or as a direct replacement in your vehicle's power steering pump reservoir.

Prevents leakage and squealing under severe conditions. Protects against pump breakdown caused by wear, oxidation and foaming. Effective in high and low temperatures. Performs in subzero temperatures to insure cold weather performance. Will not clog or foam. Helps prevent corrosion, wear and oxidation. Use year-round. Meets GM part number 1050017 (Spec. 9985010), Chrysler Spec. 5931, Ford Spec. and M2C128C & D. Use the fluid recommended in the owner's manual. • A:

Yes, it is amber/clear just like MS5931 and lists MS5931 on the back of the bottle. Unless your dealer has switched you over to ATF+4 (as alllowed in TSB 19-005-03), use this. You'll know if it has ATF+4 if the fluid is red on the dipstick.
