I replaced the oil in my bike with this since my clutches were slipping, almost immediately after changing the oil the slippage stopped. I would recommend for a bike with wet clutches.

Test results prove this is superior to many Syns, at minimum equal to the very best Syns. At the price offered? A bargain. Higher phosperous levels make it ideal for wet clutches. If an oil performs great in motorcycle application?

I have been using Valvoline 20W50 on my 94 Virago 1100 since 1995. She still runs like she is brand new even after 60,000 miles. Even in the Texas heat year after year. I have never used anything else on my motorcycles.

                        A:

Hi boater, I'm happy to help you! For your Mercury 90 4-Stroke Outboard motor, Valvoline recommends their 20W-50 conventional motor oil - Part No. 822344/VV135. The Valvoline 4-Stroke Motor Cycle Oil products will not have a sufficient additive package for this type of outboard application.

                        A:

I'm happy to help, Blanton! I assume you're asking if this oil will work in your 1998 Yamaha YZF600R. According to the owner's manual for this motorcycle the motor oil must meet API Service SE, SF or equivalent and the recommended weight is 20W-40 for temperatures down to 40*F and 10W30 for temperatures up to 60*F. For more information you may check the manual at: http://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport/service/viewmanual.aspx?ls=sport&yr=1998&lid=2&mid=151. I certainly understand that Yamaha's oil is harder to find and based on the weight recommendations allowing you to go to 10W in colder temperatures Advance Auto Parts does carry 10W-40 motorcycle oil from Valvoline 4-Stroke (Part No. VV740), Mobil1 Racing 4T (Part No. 103436), Castrol Power RS Racing 4T (Part No. 06078), Valvoline 4-Stroke Fully Synthetic (Part No. 507679) and Royal Purple Max Cycle (Part No. 01315). The Castrol, Mobil1 and Royal Purple are also Fully Synthetic oils.

Can I use this oil in my 2002 VT1100C Shadow Spirit? It calls for in the owners manual: Non-Detergent, no esters, and do not use any oil that say saves gas. Due to affecting the clutch and making it slip.
Have been using the Honda oil since I have owned the bike, and is about $1 more per quart.

                        A:

If you’re not going to be starting your bike (cold starts) in temperatures below 20 degrees (f) then you could move up to a 15W-40 oil or even a 20W-40 (Valvoline 4-Stroke 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil - Part No. VV743). If you don’t do a lot of extreme hard riding in extreme heat like above 110 degrees (f) then you probably doesn't need an oil with the high number above 40. For a bike which rides on extreme heat is more concerned about the high viscosity number. It would do better using an oil like, 20W-50 or even a 15W-50. I have a 2007 Stratoliner 1900. Prior to changeing to Valvoline 20 - 50 motorcycle oil I was under a PMP program with the dealer. My bike seems to be running noticably hotter than what it ran before since I now feel the heat through my seat and the oil tank is very hot. Is this the right oil for my bike? I am a complete believer in Valvoline product. My 1994 Jeep had well over 200,000 on it before a head gasket went. The mechanic said he had never seen a cars plugs look so good and only had them changed once in the life of the engine. Tanks.
