The OEM starter had a spade connector that was exposed to outside elements. This is said to be the cause of above normal incidence of failure (which is my experience). Replacement starter came with a wire attached to the starter (via nut)and a crimp connector on the other end (with shrink tubing surround). I was able to cut off the spade connector and crimp to the wire from the starter. Heating the heat shrink tubing provided a water proof seal.

Comments about ToughOne Starter - Remanufactured:

My 1992 F-150 pickup truck has 125,000 miles on it. The OE starter broke in a parking lot of a big box store. I purchased this starter on line and picked it up early the next morning. Took me about 1 hour to remove and replace the starter. Now the truck starts up quickly. Saved a good bit of money doing it myself!

Comments about ToughOne Starter - Remanufactured:

I installed the re-manufactured starter on a 1996 f-150, four wheel drive, with a 302 motor. removal of the old starter was fairly easy. the new starter was an exact replacement, wires bolted up perfectly, starter fit correctly. The bolt holes lined up correctly, and required no shims. starter was the exact same as the one I removed. when I finally finished the install, I then hooked up the battery terminals too the battery. when I started the truck, it cranked over a lot faster then the old starter/

My 1996 Ford Thunderbird v6 started making a clicking noise from time to time during starting. When I would turn the key I just got a clicking noise like a dead battery. I installed new battery ends and that seemed to fix the problem for about a month. Then back to clicking. After giving the problem some consideration, I realized the solenoid was wearing out. I purchased a Tough One starter and problem solved.
Watch for intermittent clicking issues with these Ford starters. It's your first warning of an impending failure.... Tough One is a good choice for replacements.
