Comments about ToughOne Compressor with Clutch - New:
Installation is a snap, and getting the lifetime warranty is as simple as replacing other key components such as orifice tube, accumulator (receiver/dryer) and measured amounts of oil and coolant for the system after a thorough flush.
Downside: This is the biggest downfall for this product... About one year to the day, the compressor stopped turning after intermittent operation. Turns out there is an open in the electrical connection within the unit. Even with a tested 12+ volts going to unit, the clutch did not kick in. Tested with volt/ohm meter, found an open circuit. New unit tests around 3.5 ohms between the two connectors.
No issue to replace unit at store, however, guess who gets to do the job all over again? Also, you will need to buy more oil and coolant as well, and you need to evacuate the system to install.
My three star rating is generous, only because of the lifetime warranty. But who wants to do this job once a year???Especially if you live in Florida. Ford's part lasted 14 years with no issues!
