This is a great compressor , but this is not a DIY job because you you need to vacuum down you line ,and have to replace the accumulator .new a/c condenser and orrfice tube .you have to buy them all at the same time to get a warranty, and they didnt tell me this. I orded some of the parts online. You will have to replace all your line or make sure you clean the out . You can remove the old one and install the new replace parts and clean everything , and then take it to a shop to have a vacuum put on it for at less 45 mins. Dont for get to add oil the your conpressor , GOOD LUCK

Minutes after the installation was complete it started to make a whining noise. After a week of driving I was hoping the noise would go away but it did not. I question the reliability of this compressor, I do not think it will last long.

On a good note the air is ICE cold and does the job well.

Drain pre-filled oil

Comments about ToughOne AC Compressor with Clutch:

When you open the bag it says it has been pre-filled with 6.8 oz of oil. I only measured 4 oz in it when I poured it out even after letting it sit upside down and spinning it. Don't trust the pre-filled amount unless you want to buy a new compressor soon

Works well, but did not come with correct sealing washers.

Comments about ToughOne AC Compressor with Clutch:

Comes with one thick and one thin sealing washer. My application required two thin ones, 1999 Chevy 2500 express van, 5.7. Had to use one original washer. Sealed fine and works great otherwise.

      Read the fine print.

Comments about ToughOne AC Compressor with Clutch:

Description clearly states that this CAN BE TOUGHONE OR FACTORY AIR PRODUCT DUE TO RUNNING CHANGE
I bought the Factory Air online and the store had a Touchone waiting for me to pick-up when I arived. No complaint about that because the Touchone is about $10 higher.
I have a 2000 Chevy s10 4.3 and the orignal compressor has two electrical connections. You will need snap ring plires to remove the one in the back of the old compressor and install it in the new commpressor.
My A/C temp is now at 47 degrees. Very happy.

Comments about ToughOne AC Compressor with Clutch:

The compresser is fine, but I turned in the core without realizing the new one had no switch. I went back and bought the switch, but they sold me a low pressure switch. Second return trip, we viewed the core, and got a switch to fit in the compressor. Upon completing the job with $70 worth of freon, I found it was the wrong switch, so I had to modify the connector to get it to plug in. Then 2 days later the switch shorted out to ground, blowing fuses, There were no more selections on the web site for the switch that might have been correct, so I just jumpered the connector. LESSON TO ALL, save your old switch.

Comments about ToughOne AC Compressor with Clutch:

In my experience most freon leaks occur due to a faulty front seal on the compressor. Replacing just the seal would be a lot cheaper...but if the seal is worn out the compressor can't be far behind. If you want cold air instead of cool air you will also want to replace the receiver/dryer and orifice tube. The orifice tube was very difficult to remove on my 1999 Blazer. I had to force a drywall screw into it and alternately push/pull until it loosened enough to remove.

There are no instructions with this compressor so you will need a repair manual if you have never done this job before.

              • Q:

Why isn't the type of PAG oil specified with this compressor? Picked this up at the store and sales person had no idea which oil should be used with it. In fact I don't think he even knew what PAG oil was until I pointed to the 3 different types that were sitting on the shelf behind him. I wasted a couple hours before finally noticing someone from "Customer Care" saying it needs PAG 150. Yet, important note #3 on the box and #4 in the instructions is to "check the oil". Can't believe you sell me something that will destroy itself without the proper oil and then make no attempt to make sure that information is available. Sheesh, typical American/Chinese BigCorp non-sense.
