I'm a do it yourself mechanic, pretty much will do all my own auto work, followed installation to the T putting in this compressor, rebuilt entire system new dryer, new evaporator and orifice tube, system worked great but compressor failed in less than a year. warrantee is worthless unless your a professional mechanic and can prove it. Would not recommend this product.

Comments about ToughOne AC Compressor with Clutch:

The compressor stopped working after 2.5 years. I found the clutch hub fell off. Yes, it fell off. The center bolt and hub were missing altogether(lost along the road I assume). I'm not sure how or what happened to cause this. I replaced the clutch hub and shimmed it correctly. The compressor worked well after that and the A/C blew cold. It has been about 2 months since the new clutch hub was installed and at times I notice very little refrigerant pressure difference between the high and low side, even though the compressor is running. The A/C discharge is barely cool at best. The compressor must be failing internally because now it is even making abnormal noises. Maybe all the problems are related? Who knows. Very poor quality and now I anticipate metal debris throughout the entire refrigerant system. That equals a more expensive repair than just a new compressor, and an unhappy customer.

Comments about ToughOne AC Compressor with Clutch:

This compressor is reasonably priced. The warranty is twice as long as other higher priced units. The downfall is that, according to the literature, you basically have to replace almost every major ac component in your system for them to honor the warranty. I'm a master certified auto technician/auto instructor, and in many cases, replacement of these extra components is not necessary.Bought item online and found it $60 cheaper than in the store, [...]no core charge, and will receive a $50 coupon for future purchases. It only makes sense to buy online.

If I purchase this compressor, will I also need to buy a "dryer"?

                  A:

I'm glad to assist, Apple! Yes, when you purchase an AC Compressor you will also need to replace the accumulator/receiver drier and the expansion valve will need to be cleaned or replaced. AdvanceAutoParts.com does not have the accumulator/receiver drier for your 2007 Mercury Milan Premier 3.0L. Provide your local store with Motorcraft Part No. YF3262 and they may be able to source the part for you. Your expansion valve is ToughOne or Factory Air Part No. T39306.

These items must be replaced to ensure your warranty is valid. If these parts are not replaced, debris from the failed parts could circulate through the system and cause another failure. Here is a link to the warranty policy: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/o/warrantygeneral

The information is listed under the Part-Specific Requirements.

Hi Apple, glad to assist you! I verified with manufacturer that this car will not take a regular accumulator/drier you will need A/C desiccant bag part #83361. It will go to the end of your condenser. Currently, this part is unavailable online. I would recommend that you check with the nearest Advance store and one of our parts pros will be glad to assist you with an alternate availability.
