My stock muffler on my 1992 toyota pickup 3.0 liter V6 broke the weld on the muffler so I set out to a couple of muffler shops and they quoted me 170-200 dollars for a new muffler. Went to advanced auto and found this thrush muffler for [$] dollars and a muffler clamp and hanger. In total I spent around 40 dollars. My engine is stock and I wanted something quiet as I already have a cut out for if I want it to be loud. This muffler did the job! It has a slightly deeper sound (NOT LOUD) at idle and sounds great when getting on it.

I installed a new exhaust from exhaust manifold back, 5 years ago.
    2 years ago I replaced my h-pipe.
I have to replace my both mufflers, h-pipe, and both catalytic converters because they are all broken, corroded, and falling apart.
Everything sounded great for the first 3 years.

        Comments about Thrush Turbo Muffler:

I purchased this to replace a years old burned out glass pack on an otherwise basically stock exhaust system. I'm used to it being loud, and was hoping for something more mellow.

I have installed 3 so far- can't get a good one.
The first one sounded pretty good, except for something loose inside causing a rattle (primarily on decel).
Removed it and exchanged it for another. This second one was obnoxiously loud under all conditions. It sounded more like an echo can than a muffler.
Removed and exchanged it for a third one- this one is louder than the first and quieter than the second, but has an annoying drone at highway speeds.

I do not understand the lack of consistency and quality of these mufflers. However, it does explain the previous reviews where some felt they were quiet and others felt they were loud- it depends on the luck of the draw.

          Comments about Thrush Turbo Muffler:

Better than a straight-through muffler! It has been proven that turbo mufflers flow better than glass pack mufflers with half the noise.

The Thrush is much smaller than OEM mufflers which saves weight and increases ground clearance.

I have used this muffler on all types of engines. Some recent examples include; a 5.0 Mustang, a v6 Lincoln LS, and now a 2005 Corolla XRS.

There is no better muffler on the market for maximum performance with just the right amount for sound.
