I bought this for my '95 Dodge Dakota - I didn't expect the results to be as astonishing as they were. It's definitely not too loud (and no i don't have a CAT) Its much louder than stock though. My original plan was to put this in place of the CAT and then put a Flowmaster Super 10 downstream from it. My local AdvanceAuto didn't have the Super 10 in stock but did have the 28" Thrush Glasspack so I had to have the Super 10 shipped. Now I wish I had of just saved my money on the super 10 because deleting the catalytic converter and old muffler on a 318/5.2L sounds perfect with just these glasspacks!! I get no annoying road noise when cruising, the only time it is extremely loud is when I mean for it to (i.e. punching it to the floor) For normal driving it just sounds like a V8 should.. I definitely wouldn't consider putting this on a 4 cylinder but on a V8 the 28" length is perfect for a glasspack and you don't need no other muffler, resonator, or catalytic converter for that matter, just run you some pipe a foot or so past the 'upstream' o2 sensor and connect the thrush glasspack. You can leave existing pipe and put it at the end or you can add a tailpipe to it. I personally like it at the end so that it enhances the crackling sound when you punch the gas!

I really like the sound and at the price you can't go wrong. I almost never give 5 stars, I gave this 3 because the inlet and outlet are the same exact size, they are both ID, not ID inlet and OD outlet like a normal muffler. I'm curious why you would do that? I wanted to add a turndown but can't because the turndown inlet is the same exact size as the muffler outlet. I am having to make all kinds of modifications (as do most people they are just not saying it) to get it to fit onto other pipes. I attached this to my Jeep for 2 reasons, sound and location. This tucks up into the frame to get it away from the trail which is a necessity, so for that it is perfect.

Comments about Thrush Glass Pack Mufflers:

Low cost upgrade for a sweet sounding exhaust.. lasts wayyyyyyyyyy longer than a regular muffler. Using this on a 3.9 V6 Magnum 6cyl and you'd swear it was a big block 8.. sounds the exact opposite of these kids running around with coffee cans bolted to their little hondas and subarus... It's a quick install and probably has added a couple horsepower to my engine since i took a steel rod to the innards of my catalytic converter. Installed this after the now "empty" cat (for Pennsylvania's heinous emission laws I had to leave the cat installed **visually** or it will fail inspection) and installed this thrush.. and you'd think my 98 dakota sport was a big v8! nice throaty but "tuned" sound. (no headers).. buy this glasspack! you won't be let down
