I bought these lights as a replacement for the OEM low beams in a 2008 Mazda 3. The price is slightly steep for a bulb that is 1 grade above OEM; however, Advance Auto almost always has coupons online, so after 20% off, the price was a little easier to swallow. I have used the SilverStar Ultra bulbs before, and the performance of the lights is excellent, but I couldn't justify spending $60 on new bulbs every 6 months for the Mazda, so I bought these XtraVision bulbs as a happy medium. They are not as bright as the SilverStars (as expected) but they are definitely brighter than the OEM bulbs. I compared the two side by side before I installed both lights and I would estimate that the new bulbs were at least 25% brighter. I will be very happy with these lights as long as they don't burn out in a year. If I can get 24 months out of these bulbs, I will be 100% satisfied. $1 per month for a set of good headlights is easily justifiable in my opinion.

I have replaced these on numerous vehicles and the issue of short life is always there. The reason is simple physics. Brighter light requires more heat. The way to get more heat (light)output is to overdrive the lamp with more current. More current=more heat=more light output=shorter life. It's that simple. The advertised performace is overstated but the consumer is forced to personally decide if the minimum results are worth it. In the driveway the improvements are strickly subject - (not measureable). HID conversion is the place to spend the money for the best improvement.

I use to replace one light at a time, but with these prices and quality you need to both at the same time.

Comments about Sylvania XtraVision TWIN Halogen Headlight:

I have only had these installed on my Subaru Legacy for a couple of weeks, but they seem to perform as well as the bulbs I replaced. My only concern is how long these will last in this application since I've read about issues others have had with the H7 bulbs in Subarus and this is my third set of bulbs in two years. I'll post more feedback on the longevity of the bulbs after I have had these on the car a while longer.

I installed the pair today, and wrote down the date. Not sure how long these will last. Definitely brighter than the regular sylvania bulbs. My car also has the driving lights, so visibility should not be a problem.

Installed in a 2005 Subaru Legacy Outback. Brighter than standard or EOM lamps. Only lasted 9 months (passenger side) but this car model has known problems with burning thru bulbs quickly. Sylvania's XtraVision low beam lamps lasted at least as long as other lamps I've tried.
