Great Light for night driving

These light bulbs were not as easy to install on my 2009 HHR as I though. I had to take it to my Mechanic to have him install them.

For the money I probably wouldn't buy these again. I was really expecting a dramatic improvement, but instead I was a bit disappointed. They are brighter than the stock bulbs, but not by much. I have HID's on all my vehicles except my work car. HID's just didn't work with that car, and I needed better headlights. Decided to give these a try, but they are not nearly as awesome as HID's.

Good upgrade, but...

Comments about Sylvania SilverStar H13 ST/2 Halogen Headlight Bulb, 2 Pack:

I upgrade to Silverstars on any vehicle I own that doesn't have HID's. Only issue with these is in less than a year and minimal night driving I already have one that has blown out.

Comments about Sylvania SilverStar H13 ST/2 Halogen Headlight Bulb, 2 Pack:

I have been using these lamps for years. I will never go back to standard OEM bulbs for my cars. They cost more, but the benefits well out weight the cost. They do burn out faster, avg two years, and replace in pairs for best results. I'm older and don't see as well as I used to. These bulbs make up for my weaker eyesight.

It is a very easy upgrade on most cars but on the HHR it was a painful experience. Well worth it, I can see at night and I tend to not to use my fog lamps now.

Just installed these in a 2008 Pontiac Torrent. Low beams look great, highs are messed up. One shoots high, one shoots low. Did I do something wrong? There is only vertical adjustment for lights on this car, so I doubt that would help. Thanks.

                  A:

I'm happy to help, Bill! Keeping the headlights pointed in the right direction is definitely a valid concern. Since the high beam and low beam are the same bulb it would seem odd that the aim would be off. It's hard to tell without seeing the beam. It is possible for the headlight lens to project a different beam patterns on the driver's and passenger's side of the vehicle. I also suggest checking that the bulbs are properly seated in the housing.

If the headlight beam still seems off, I suggest checking a repair manual (Haynes Part No. 38040) for aiming procedures. If you would like additional diagnostic assistance I suggest speaking with a certified mechanic.

I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler X Unlimited. Whats the best way to install? Most instructionals I look at show or say I have to take so much apart just to change a bulb, I really don't want to take to much apart.

                  A:

As per Jeep Wrangler's Owner's manual the replacement process is as follows: Open hood and support using prop rod. Remove the front grille. Turn the retainers along the top 1/4 turn counter-clockwise and remove. Pull the bottom of the grille away starting at one side and working toward the other. Turn both park and turn signal socket assemblies 1/4 turn counter-clockwise and remove. Remove the four screws holding the metal retaining ring. Remove the lamp from the collar. Grasp the bulb and turn 1/4 turn counter-clockwise. Pull the bulb from the housing. Push connector locking tab to the unlock position. Remove connector from bulb. Push connector onto new bulb base, and push the connector locking tab to the lock position.

yes, the deposit of your hand greas on the bulb will cause black burn marks due to the extreme heat and wil reduce the light emision
