Comments about Strong Arm Lift Support:

These parts fit a '96 or '92 camry perfectly. Use a 12mm wrench and socket to uninstall the old ones.
Use an 11mm wrench and 12mm socket to install the new ones. I installed one side at a time, using a baseball bat as a prop on the side I was working on.
Make sure you get both the Left and Right strutts when purchasing.
I couldn't believe how much uplift force the new strutts had! Wow! They work great!!
The left strutt didn't have a plastic retainer for the wiring harness like the old one did that came off but a tie wrap worked just as well.
I'm just a basic "shade tree" mechanic and I was able to install these in about 45 minutes without any problems.

Comments about Strong Arm Lift Support:

The hood lift was for a 1996 Camry.

I am very pleased how it was constructed and the ease of installation. It took less than 15-mins to replace both (I had with me all the right tools). When the hood is 2/3 open I can let go and it will spring up to its full position. The construction looks like it will last. The compressed gas retention is dependent on the seal quality. Something only the test of time will assess.

Note: On the left side (drivers side) the original equipment had a hardness clip. The replacement does not. Your options are: do nothing, pry off and use the old clip, or use a plastic tie to secure the hardness.

Tools needed: I used a 14mm box end wrench (ratchet type), a small screw driver, pliers, a plastic tie (optional), and second person to hold up the hood.

        1) Have with you the replacement lift and all the tools. Then have someone hold up the hood or otherwise wedge something to hold it up.

        2) Using the 14 mm wrench remove the one bolt attaching the bottom of the lift. On the left lift remove the harness from its bracket. Note: on the right side there is not enough room for a socket and ratchet and you will need a wrench.

        3) on the top: pry slightly the flat metal spring surrounding the lift's socket. Pull sightly and the lift should pop off onto your hands.

        4) attach the replacement lift to the bottom using the 14 mm bolt.

NOTE: For my installation I used the original equipment lift ball as it showed no wear and was the same size of the replacement part. A replacement ball is supplied. If the part is to be replaced it easy. Only one nut and it is easy to get at.

        5) Using the pliers hold the lift's socket bracket and rotate it so that the socket hole is aligned to its mating ball. Caution: don't use the pliers on the lift's sliding bar as it may be damaged causing a premature seal failure.

        6) With small screw driver slightly pry up the metal flat clip on the lift's socket, push the replacement lift onto the mating ball, and release the clip. Note: Make sure that as you pry metal clip up that the hole it creates on the other side is aligned with the lift's socket cavity. If not you may have to play with it a little.

        7) attached the plastic tie to the harness and a secure point.
