Because of indicated higher water temperature readings on my guage, I replace the standard thermostat with a Superstat Thermostat by Stant, hoping to get better flow volume at a faster rate. I observed almost immediate results as indicated by a lower guage reading. Installation was simple in my case (1986 el Camino). REMEMBER TO BUY THE TERMOSTAT HOUSING GASKET as it does not come with the thermostat.

I replaced my thermostat because the heater wasn't putting out enough heat. That was right after I flushed the system and replaced the anti-freeze. I monitored the engine temperature with my ODBCII tool and while driving over 10 miles, it never indicated an engine temp much over 190 degrees. I was hoping it would show right at 195 like I ordered. End result, the heater still isn't putting out so I parked it waiting on warmer weather to reverse flush the heater core. I've always had good luck with Stant thermostats in the past and didn't expect any problems with this one but...

Comments about Stant Superstat Premium Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

This product was very simple to install and it provides a great temperature for my vehicle at a low cost. I use my vehicle for daily driving as well as trail riding and this termostat keeps my vehicle at the same temperature on the road as well as off the road. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a new thermostat and is looking for great quality at a lower budget price. It keeps my engine temperature at 195 (which is what it says it does) I really like this product and will be purchasing it again if I ever need to.

I choose the Stant thermostat over a 'store' branded one at a competitive store. While I was told by the other store "They are all made by the same company!", I would rather have the Stant due to reputation. The thermostat is the OEM temp range and works perfectly, allowing the engine to heat up quickly and then maintain the correct temp. Excellent quality and a good value.

                  A:

Choosing which temperature of thermostat to go with depends on the climate of where you live. For just average weather, I would stick with whichever thermostat your vehicle originally came with. If the climate is alot colder than most it would be best to use a thermostat with a higher temperature thermostat and vice versa.

Yes this would be a good one, but I'd go with a lower alternative tempature honestly. As far as warranty... like they actually warranty thermostats anyways. It would help if the people that work for AAP actually answer the question asked and not just chime in about a warranty... that WASN'T Asked about
