Comments about Stant Superstat Premium Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit:

This product was cheaply made and of poor quality materials. The design was completely wrong compared to the original. If you put this in your vehicle you will regret it. Stant makes good product but though this says it is when you go to the store to pick it up it is a off brand that is pieced together from discarded tin gathered and assembled from soda cans.

is the stant 45948 thermostat failsafe ??
Asked on 10/28/2013 by rob from rocky point ny

    1 answer

Hi Rob, this Stant Superstat™ Super Premium Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit - part# 45948 is not a fail safe thermostat. However, Stant suggests that all thermostats will fail in either a closed or open position; there is no such thing as a thermostat that will fail in a “safe” position. Although some brands may claim a thermostat fails in a safe position, it simply locks itself open while it is in a full stroke open position. It will not spring open if it fails in a closed position.
