This item I purchased was right off the bat great deal. It was affordable, ready for me to pick up in the nearest store to my home in minutes, and has proved to be a good replacement part. It's made my cooling system work a lot better now. No more over heating and no more misreading of the temperature. The only thing id say is if self installing be careful not to be rough with it or the housing unit it goes into. Very easy to mess up or break something if you try to rush and get it back together.

Comments about Stant Superstat Premium Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit:

My Acura is 30 years old now and was purchased NEW in March 1986 by me in Pasadena on the first day that the first US ACURA dealership opened. The thermostat was changed along with the H2O pump and timing belt at ~60K miles. It will be changed again soon when a new timing belt and H2O pump are replaced. This Stant premium T-Stat exudes quality....and is a bargain even if full price is paid.

This thermostat will fail in the open direction versus an OEM thermostat that will fail closed. This prevents serious overheating issues in the vehicle and provides peace of mind knowing that if you have a failure that you will not overheat right away.

Comments about Stant Superstat Premium Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit:

My existing thermostat must have been stuck in the open position because the engine would not warm up in cool or cold weather (and along with that no heater). This thermostat installed easily (suggest checking YouTube if you are not comfortable with the change-out of a thermostat) and is working perfectly (now have a great heater along with a warm engine in cold weather). Don't forget to order the correct rubber gasket to work with your new thermostat.

                    A:

I'm happy to help, Art! The thermostat is located in the thermostat housing. The housing is at the end of the upper radiator hose. The housing needs to be removed in order to access the thermostat. I have found a page that has pictures of a 1995 which should be similar, it is located here:

I also have located a video tutorial on how to change the thermostat on a 2002 Honda Accord, located here:

It is better to replace the radiator instead of replacing the thermostat.

Check your oil dipstick; if the oil looks like chocolate milk, that's where the coolant is going. May also see white/creamy substance on the underside of the oil fill cap. Serious problems, most likely head gasket, also have seen a leaky freeze plug in the head cause this on some makes (Suzuki). Have a good mechanic check it, before throwing parts at it.
