    i have a 2008 toyota corolla LE. 1.8L. i tried removing the oil pan and it wont drop. i dented the oil pan by running over something. i took all the bolts out and it is just hanging. What do i do? what is holding it?

      A:

      Hi Jill, my answer to your question on the Spectra Premium Oil Pan - part# TOP10A is that you would need to Slide under the car and use a wrench to remove the under cover of the vehicle, removing each of the bolts holding it in place. Then use the wrench to remove the front exhaust pipe, which is located over the oil pan. Remove the oil pan bolts and nuts from around the outer edge of the oil pan. Remove each bolt in a crisscross pattern by removing one bolt then removing a bolt on the opposite side of the oil pan. Support with your hand to avoid dropping the pan. Cut off any of the applied sealer on the edge of the oil pan and the engine block that may remain once the oil pan drops off.

    Is there a particular sealant I need to use on the gasket? And do I need to torque the bolts on the pan to a certain degree or can I just make sure they are snug?

      Yes, you can use the Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive Sealant - Part No. 81158 in the gasket when you install the Spectra Premium Oil Pan - Part No. TOP10A. You can torque the oil pan bolts at 12 ft-lbs.
