  • Q:

If the valves in my old heads are burned or leaking, will it cause uneven compression, low but steady vacuum, loss of power, pinging or knocking when climbing a hill, and rough idle/operation while driving?? Vehicle is a 1997 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L V-6 OHV engine..

The bad valve in cylinder head will cause misfiring, irregular exhaust, low vacuum, loss of power, rough idle. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

  • Q:

I have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL with an OHV V-6 in it. It seems to have oil in the anti-freeze and possibly anti-freeze in the oil. Cylinder compression is not perfect, but seems to be within the specified range between highest cylinder and the lowest. Also, engine idles rough, like it is misfiring. Could the cylinder head(s) be cracked?? How often or how likely are the heads on these ford engines to crack??

  • Q:

Are the valves new? If not, how do I know they are in good condition. My concern is warped exhaust valves. Thanks,

      A:

It is the complete re-manufactured engine cylinder head. Remanufacturing is a process in which used parts are examined and restored to original specifications.
