Switched from Rotella conventional dino oil to this full syn 5W-40 Rotella T6. Noticed a smoother shifting right from get go. I have a wet clutch which shares the oil with the engine. Less chattering during high RPM.

It's definitely better than conventional or synthetic blend, but it's not the best oil out there. It's a Class III oil, not a Class IV. Needs to be 100% synthetic to be a Class IV, full synthetics are not 100% synthetic. Would use in an emergency but will go back to Amsoil which I consider significantly better and it's guaranteed for 25,000 mile oil change intervals.

Comments about Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 Heavy Duty Full Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Gallon):

Not many people think of putting diesel engine oil into a small turbo engine, but that's precisely what I did with my Subaru. The EJ engines are known for running hot and burning through oil, but Rotella T6 holds up without you having to top off oil every month. Used Oil Analyses have proven that its protection lasts far longer than many other synthetics. Consider switching to this oil if your engine works hard and you want it to last.

I ride a Suzuki Burgman AN400 in Wisconsin down ito the 30's and keep my bike outside under a carport. She gets good and cooled off at night. Start-ups in the morning, the toughest moments for any engine, are always a breeze. I've studied plenty about motor oil and feel that Rotella T6 5w-40 is the best product for my application (5w-40 wasn't available in '05), especially at such a reasonable price. I could get "scooter" or "motorcycle" oil, but I would pay at least twice as much, but could not get twice the benefit from doing so.

Made the swap from the conventional oil to the Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 5W-40. The lighter winter viscosity allows for easier starts during the colder weather even though it does not get that cold here in the great state of Alabama. I highly recommend this to all of my 6.0 Diesel guys!

I have little experience with diesel engines, however after changing my oil and using this brand the truck starts much easier and runs great (to be fair it ran great before the oil change). I see nothing wrong with this oil and will most likely purchase again from all the good reviews I've read along with no issues from my personal use.

Comments about Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 Heavy Duty Full Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Gallon):

I prefer to use the Rotella T (Dino oil) in my motorcycles, but I ride all winter in PA on my Goldwing, and the 15-40 is a bit heavy for winter use. Therefore, I decided to kive the T6 Full synth 5W-40 a shot since it should flow more easily when first started and in very cold conditions. The T6 also does not list friction modifiers so it should be safe for my wet clutch.
I am not going to recommend it unless you need it for winter use as I stated, instead I recommend the Rotella-T.

Hi Lee, I'm happy to help you! I see the OEM requirements for your vehicle is an engine oil that meets the BMW LL-01 specification. The Rotella product does not meet this specification. The Pennzoil Platinum Euro in the 5w-40 viscosity meets this specification.

Happy to help you with your question Fivedawg! This oil is more for diesel application. I looked into the other types of oil we carry and compared it to the manufactures oil. The manufacture does not put the weight of oil on the packaging, on the owners forums there are too many varying opinions on the type of oil that should be used. I suggest speaking with a motorcycle repair shop for more information.

Hello Mark, I will be happy to answer that question you had. The 5w-40 oil is more of a weight of oil for winter climates. In Florida the heat in addition to the additional heat produced by a diesel motor may cause that oil to become thinner.

Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic Oils generally offer higher performance, but currently, Shell Rotella T5 Synthetic Blend Oils are available in more viscosity grades.
