  • Q:

Hi. Would this oil be acceptable for my 1947 Ford 1/2 ton truck with a flathead engine? It also has an added beehive oil filter which only filters a small amount of the oil. Any replies would be appreciated. Thank you,
    Pat.......

      A:

Hi Spike, I'm glad to assist you! The Rotella T1 30W is an excellent diesel engine oil. However what you need is zinc and the T1 has some. The Rotella Triple Protection 15w-40 has more about 1200 ppm of zinc. This also carries an API SM gasoline specification. The multi-grade viscosity might be better for that oil filter.

  • Q:

I need an oil that is API SC for my 1966 Ford Mustang with a 289. Does this oil meet that requirement?

    Thanks.

      A:

Hi Scott, I'm glad to assist you! No, the Rotella T1 (single grade products) is not tested against gasoline engine oil specifications. I suggest either Rotella T 10W-30 or Rotella T 15W-40 which will meet this older specification and has higher levels of zinc that will help protect the cams.
