Great for many uses. My 6 volt tractor, car and truck both with quick start if needed. This is my 3rd one, first one lasted several years until dropped several times and ran over, 2nd was stolen. Best for the price.

Comments about Schumacher Battery Charger 100/15/2:

I purchased this charger in 2003. Originally for my F-250 diesel, I now use it to charge my garden tractor battery. I have another charger (10 amp) I use on my cars. Because it is an automatic charger, the only type I would purchase, I hook it up today and may recall having done so in anywhere from a day to several days. Never a problem, never ruined a battery.

Comments about Schumacher Battery Charger 100/15/2:

This charger is extra heavy duty and will outlast many other brands. This was purchased after replacing two other competitor brands in a year.My friend recomended this as he has used his extensively for years and his is still going strong. Great for anything with a six or twelve volt battery. It has a 100 amp boost start,15 amp quick charge, and a 2 amp trickle charge that will not fry your battery!! It also is built to charge deep cycle marine batteries for our boat! If you take the time to compare and price you will see this is the best buy out there.

This Schumacher Battery Charger 100/15/2 with part# SE-2151MA should work fine for your application as it features 100 amp start for emergency starting and 15 amp fast charge.

          • A:

100 amps at 12 volts is 10 amps at 120 volts -- remember that amps times volts equals watts -- if you use the standard 10% loss for a transformer (which this is), that would be 11 amps which is more than I'd want for a sustained load on a 15 amp line (rule of thumb is no more than 2/3 of capacity) but ought to be perfectly OK for a half hour or less. As long as there is nothing else on that circuit.

Now if your neutral isn't well grounded as code requires, or you (and/or the power company) have lost ground) then you could easily blow a breaker because of an unbalanced load on your breaker panel but that's a problem with the wiring in the house.

Above all else, the charger should say what it's maximum consumption is -- and AAP ought to have told you that....

          • A:

Shouldn't -- 100 amps at 12 volts is only 10 at 120 volts -- factor in 10% loss for transformer and this is 11 amps -- in theory.
