Comments about Schumacher 2/15/125 Amp 6/12-Volt Automatic Battery Charger w/Engine Start:

The quality of this battery charger is terrible. I received the first one, plugged it in, and white smoke rolled out of it. I called customer service and they made me return it to the store or pay for return shipping. I live 90 miles from a store. In the mean time, advance auto shipped me another charger. When I unboxed the 2nd charger, random parts fell out of the box and the selector knob was broken/spin freely. I knew right then that this charger was probably broken as well but I decided to try it anyway. As soon as I plugged it in, white smoke rolled out of the charger again. I immediately called customer service and requested a pre-paid return label. They said they would email one out, but I never received anything that resembled a shipping label that any shipping company would accept. I guess I will drag this one back to the store again for a refund. This charger is a piece of junk and it stunk up my garage twice. This charger does not even deserve one star but I had to select at least one. DO NOT BUY ONE.

Comments about Schumacher 2/15/125 Amp 6/12-Volt Automatic Battery Charger w/Engine Start:

The device works as it should. Jumps a dead battery, rapid charge 15A, and slower trickle charge for my truck. The case is made of stamped and painted metal. It is held together by tabs in the metal that fit into small slots on the face plate. Mine came with them not properly engaged which meant I had to take apart and reassemble the product before using it. Inside the LEDs fell out because they were only attached to their proper position on the face plate by the force of the bent wires behind them. Long story short... it works just fine but a simple once over from quality control would make the company avoid sending out poorly constructed products. Another option would be to avoid construction methods that even todler toys have abandoned. Use some screws/bolts/nuts to hold the parts together. But I guess that is why it was on sale.

Comments about Schumacher 2/15/125 Amp 6/12-Volt Automatic Battery Charger w/Engine Start:

If you are smart enough to order this charger you are capable of using it. I always select charging rate first then hook up the charger positive battery cable, then ground, before plugging into wall. This could be the last charger you will ever buy.
Sometimes it takes a minute for the charger to decide what to do after switching charge rates but it figures itself out. The charger is heavy due to the size of the transformer, a good thing. Made in Mexico. I think that is better than Taiwan or China. The first charger I ordered emitted a beautiful white smoke from inside as soon as I plugged it in. Advance sent another one right out on 2nd day delivery before I ever returned the defective one. I could buy a charger for 1/3 as much $$ but I feel confident this one won't overcharge and explode a battery on a new car's finsih or burn the shop down. The peace of mind is worth the cost.

As advertised. Good replacement for a wheeled unit. Not as much cranking amps but takes up allot less space. I use it as a booster for motorcycles.
