Comments about Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W90:

Internet research led us to Royal Purple. This fluid is GL4/GL5 compatible so you can use it in an Infiniti G35 manual six-speed trans and the differential. I have installed it in the differential and it is fine. I don't have the ability to tell if it makes any difference, i.e., smoothness, MPG, etc. It took 2 quarts. I plan to use the other 4 qts. on the manual transmission once the weather cools. Bottles have a "barbed" tip so it is easy to use clear tubing to fill, if desired.

Used for front and rear differentials in my 2001 GMC2500HD. Have had it in for about a week now and its doing good. Purchased Royal Purple over M1 due to a few reviews I saw plus a piece on a truck show. Vehicle they put it in saw an average of +7hp and +6ft-lb of power at rear wheels. Less parrasitic loss in differentials due to fluid. Hope to see the improvements in my truck. Awesome product!!

Royal Purple quality is practically legendary as is, that is why I chose this gear oil. I was very happy to find out it was already formulated for positrac and I didn't have to buy anything else. I do a lot of hard core off roading, and this is what everyone around the pits agrees is the best.

                        A:

Good question, TCase! We have not received negative feedback from owners of GM vehicles using the Eaton G80 locking differential, indicating that the use of Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 (part #01300, quart bottle) in those differentials, had caused any issues from the friction modifier that’s included in the product. Max Gear is our normal recommendation and it works great. However, if you absolutely prefer a Royal Purple gear lube that does not include an LSD-FM (limited slip differential friction modifier) at all, I need you to provide your vehicle's year, make, model and engine size so we can assist you further.
