Product is probably excellent, but it didn't work for my 2005 Infiniti G35. Royal Purple tech support said it was fine for both my GL-4 grade manual transmission and my GL-5 differential. When the weather turned cold in TN, the differential started to whine (sounded like a window leaking air), Switched the diff back to conventional Valvoline 80W-90 GL-5 and the whine stopped. Transmission works ok with the Royal Purple but does not shift as easily. I was expecting easier cold shifting due to the lower winter viscosity. I have no plans to change the transmission. Bottom line is the product was not ideal for my G35.

Much quieter, and I feel that the differential is much smoother. Especially under severe driving conditions. We'll be going to the track this weekend to really test it. Usually use Amsoil. This seems to feel as good or better.

I used this gear lube in my 2005 Chevy Silverado and in the lower unit of my 2015 Tohatsu/Nissan 9.8hp outboard boat motor. It goes well beyond the specifications for both my truck and outboard motor. I also use it in the final drive of my motorcycle (Suzuki C109R Boulevard 1800) and it's great.

Hi Billy, glad to assist you! Yes, this Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 is compatible with the 5 speed manual transmission on a 2000 Nissan Frontier. I do not recommend topping off/mixing this with another brand product. If you are wanting to use the Max Gear 75W-90 in your manual transmission I would recommend draining out all of the oil that is in the transmission, and doing a complete fill with the Max Gear 75W-90. Any residual amounts that are left by the previous fluid used in the transmission will mix and be compatible with the Max Gear 75W-90.

Hi Bmc, I'm glad to help you! No, part #01300 is Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90. Your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 3.7L V6 will have the 9.25 inches rear differential, and that differential calls for a 75W-140 viscosity. I therefore recommend Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-140 (part #01301, quart bottle). Your 9.25 inches rear differential takes 2.45 quarts.

Good question, TCase! We have not received negative feedback from owners of GM vehicles using the Eaton G80 locking differential, indicating that the use of Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 (part #01300, quart bottle) in those differentials, had caused any issues from the friction modifier that’s included in the product. Max Gear is our normal recommendation and it works great. However, if you absolutely prefer a Royal Purple gear lube that does not include an LSD-FM (limited slip differential friction modifier) at all, I need you to provide your vehicle's year, make, model and engine size so we can assist you further.
