Comments about Refrigerant R134A 30 lb. Cylinder:

A 30 lb can of this equals 40 of the little 12 ounce ones, and they cost about $5 each. This pure Freon with NO oil . Buy online and pick up at your favorite store to save time and money.

Hi Dr, good question! Advance Auto Parts does sell Made in the USA products as well as products manufactured from many other countries in order to keep our pricing competitive. Our suppliers have multiple manufacturing plants that could result in different countries of origin for the same part.

            • Q:

Do I need certification to purchase this cylinder of 134A? From EPA.gov, "Section 609 covers technician certification in the motor vehicle sector only. Note, that while certification is required in order to service motor vehicle air-conditioners, certification is not required to purchase R-134a."

              • A:

Per the EPA certification is NOT required to purchase R-134a
It is considered a non-ozone depleting refrigerant.
The State of WI does not prohibit the sales of R-134a to anyone.
Note the last sentence in the comment from Accelr8.
"HFC refrigerants such as R-134a, and HFC refrigerant blends that do not contain an ozone-depleting substance, such as R-404A and R-410A, are not currently covered under this sales restriction."

You can become certified online. Go to the ASE website and take a test. Cost was $15 several years back when I took it. It is dummy proof.
