This model will fit several vehicles, I read thru the instructions and pre-assembly leaving hardware finger tight until final assembly helped during installation. Took about two hours using air tools. Instructions were very accurate for my 2001 Ranger XLT. The bumper now sits about 1 1/4" lower than stock height as the hitch brackets must go between the frame and the bumper brackets. Using the dropped spare tire as a support it was easy to lift the heavy cross bar into it's final position. Only missing two 1/2 lock washers for the 6 knurled bolts to side brackets to complete. I had these in my extra hardware supplies from the garage. I can now mount my 3K lbs electric winch to a 2" receiver bar for frame strong pulling applications. I can safely pull our CC 2554 lawn tractor and trailer without worry. The bigger towing jobs are now left for our F250.

When installing on my 1998 Astro Van it took a little longer than the 45 minutes stated to install. It might be easier to install on other
vehicles but not this one. Ease of attachment and access to tightening the bolts made the job a lot harder, therefore longer to install. Custom fit hitch might be better for this particular vehicle.

Comments about Reese Class III Multi-Fit Towing Hitch, 5,000 lb Gross Towing Weight, 500 lb Tongue Weight:

I looked at a number of different hitches before I settled on this one. Initially, I was hesitant because it is a multi-use style hitch that can be adjusted for installation on many different vehicles. I had heard comments that they aren't as good as the single vehicle type. However, I was impressed with the heavy frame and hardware. The instructions were easy to understand, and I only had to drill a few holes for the mount. I followed the torque recommendations from the instructions and the finished install is just a solid as a custom hitch. Trailer hitches really aren't things of beauty, but it looks pretty good, too!

Comments about Reese Class III Multi-Fit Towing Hitch, 5,000 lb Gross Towing Weight, 500 lb Tongue Weight:

It's very adaptable, but you have to know what you are doing. I've used this same model on 2 Bronco II, and a Cherokee. On some models, you have to drill some holes. On this one, It didn't matter because the factory bolts broke when I tried to remove the nuts; I had to drill all the holes. NOT the fault of the hitch; these are great hitches. If any of the factory bolts snap off, this is the one you want because it has plenty of alternate holes that you can use...

This hitch claimed to be an exact fit for my 2011 Ford Edge, it did not fit. I had to modify how it attached to my car and drill six large holes in 1/4" steel. I think it's strong enough for my use, but it was not as advertised and was very difficult to install.

The directions say 30-45 min to install not the case, it also says that drilling is required but not the case for some trucks. Extra bolts for some vehicles which is nice in case you lose some during installation and it def takes two people or you could use a floor jack if you have one handy to hold it in place while your fighting down the bolts.would req having safety glasses on or wear glasses.I have used it more times than I can think of.I just used it to pull my fathers trailer and the hitch worked like it should no bending,no stress. Wish it came with the ball and receiver but had one laying around.

I am in need of a hitch because I need to move across the country and my 2011 Ford Edge Limited is not listed as a compatible car for towing behind a moving truck, so I guess I need to tow my stuff instead, but I have ZERO experience installing anything in a car, let alone something like this. Would AAP install it for me or at least help? Thanks in advance! :)
