Does not fit 2006 Ranger XL

By

from New Orleans, LA

About Me Auto Enthusiast

Comments about Rancho RS5000 Shock Absorber:

Does not fit on the studs of a 2006 Ranger XL, upper nut bottoms out before compressing the bushings, lots of modification needed to make it fit. Replacing soon with KYB shocks that have open mounting points on lower saddle. Truck rides much worse with these shocks, Rubber boot seems "gimmicky", and I prefer the standard steel piston cover.

Comments about Rancho RS5000 Shock Absorber:

Great solution for my Ranger 4X4 torsion front suspension. Ford no longer offers front shocks for the factory lifted version Ranger. This is a great shock for this vehicle. Perfect fit.

      • Q:

Currently trying to install this on a 2000 ford ranger XLT supercab 2WD. The lower mounting bracket on the shock isnt wide enough to go over the two lower mounting brackets.

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

With reference to your inquiry on the Rancho RS5000 Series Shock - part# RS5229, as the lower mounting bracket is not wide enough to accept the shock, the truck bracket has to be bent a bit. However, I would suggest you to get assistance from a certified mechanic in order to avoid intermittence. It depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
