Q:Advance Auto website is showing the Purolator Synthetic Oil filter for $12.49 but the Purolator Pure One is cheaper ($7.19) and is rated better 99.9 vs 97.5 (filtering capability) is this an error on the web site or am I missing something?
A:Good question, Tim! I reviewed the manuals from Purolator and see that synthetic line of oil filters utilizes 100 percent synthetic media with pleat support technology that contains wire backing that is engineered for today’s high-tech engines. The result is a filter that has substantially more capacity than conventional oil filters (Pureone). This allows the filter to capture and safely hold more contaminants generated over the extended life of synthetic oils without getting clogged. Therefore the reason this part is offered at a higher price compared to the Pureone's.
