What’s so great about PureONE oil filters? Purolator PureONE Oil Filters are 99.9% efficient. This means that most all contaminants that pass through a PureONE oil filter are captured in its exclusive Micronic media, helping to prevent engine damage. Each also comes equipped with a silicone anti-drainback valve that helps to protect against engine dry-start. Put away those filter wrenches because all PureONE oil filters feature specially textured paint that helps keep the filter from slipping when you’re installing or removing it. So no matter at what angle you find yourself, you’ll have a firm, textured grip. To top it off, the filter’s PTFE-treated sealing gasket also makes for easy installation and removal. Purolator PureONE oil filters should be replaced every 3,000 miles or three months depending on the driving conditions, or as specified by your vehicle's manufacturer.

Product Features:
  • 99.9% of all contaminants that pass through a PureONE oil filter are captured in the media.
  • Micronic media traps microscopic contaminants
  • 100% covered in textured grip control that helps keep the filter from slipping when you’re installing or removing the filter.
  • PTFE treated sealing gasket for ease of installation and removal
  • Silicone anti-drainback valve lasts longer for extended protection against engine dry start

Both Saturns use a no-canister type filter (which is just the filter element with no outside can). I have used cheaper made filters and noticed the filter element crushed as if the oil pressure made it collapse on itself. I find that the PureOne filters are better and they do not collapse as the other filters do... at least on the Saturn filters.
I also like the canister filters because they have a textured finish that makes them easy to grip under the car. The texture does not flake off like in the painted texture filters.

Used on friend's car. It is a cartridge filter on the 04 malibu 4 cyl. It Was a tight fit when I was trying to get the tip of the filter into the alignment hole at the bottom of the housing assembly. And yes, I coated that o-ring in grease before installation.

So, I will either try a wix filter or a Chevy oem filter next time because I don't like to force anything into place when working on cars.

My wife has a 2005 Chevy Cobalt. I have been changing her Oil since she owned the Car and Pure 1 Filters are a great Filter for the $. I cant believe someone was having problems with the Filter. I can change the Filter and Oil in under 25 Min's. with no problem. A lot of Car Companies are going to this type of Filter System.

Bought several(10) of these filters when Advance had them on sale for $5 along with $20off when you spend $100. I saw several reviews that stated they didn't fit great or where having other issues, but I have had no issues with fit or any other problems.
Was paying almost $10 a piece at Advance local store for plain jane filter so was very happy with the price.
            Great filter-better when also onsale.

Comments about Purolator PureONE Oil Filter:

Advance usually puts these filters on sale at around 5 bucks. It also usually coinsides with a rebate deal. My total outlay for a 4 was a buck and a half per.

I use these in my wife's HHR with synthetic, and change with about 20% left on the oil life monitor. Better than stock o-rings come with the filter for the screw on housing. Nice product for the price.

Worked great on my Cobalt. I've always used Fram filters before, and I must say that this PureONE filter is heads and shoulders above my old Frams. Also, I like that the filter itself is blue. It's a novelty, I know, but I still enjoy it.

Since this is an ecotec engine, It SHOULD be 5 quarts. Don't you have an owner's manual in this car? If you do, you should look for specifications in the back table of contents in the manual. Make sure you put synthetic oil in there. That is an overhead cam engine that has super tight clearances!
