Check Vehicle Fit

The PCV valve is one half of the crankcase ventilation system - the other half is the breather filter. The breather flows clean air into the crankcase through a hose on your air filter and the PCV valve lets dirty air and crankcase gases out. These dirty gases and air get sent through the engine to be re-burned for clean emissions. An old PCV valve can cause rough engine idle, blown oil seals, fouled air filter and fuel system, fumes in the passenger compartment, excessive engine part wear, and shorter oil life. Although the PCV is not a pollution control valve, a worn out PCV valve can contribute to air pollution. So, it’s important to change your PCV valve for the safety of your vehicle - and the environment!

Caused oil to run through vacuum hoses

            Comments about Purolator PCV Valve:

I purchased this PCV valve when I replaced the passenger side valve cover of my 3.4L 5VZ-FE engine. Maybe it was defective, or maybe it just doesn't fit my truck (1998 Toyota T100) even though Advance indicated that it was an "exact fit", but it caused oil to be sucked into the vacuum hoses and burn through the exhaust system, sending HUGE plumes of blue smoke out my tail pipe. Drove my truck right to my mechanic. The first thing he checked was the vacuum hoses and noticed the oil in the one connected to the PCV. He plugged the hose, removed the PCV, and ran the engine at 3000rpm to burn out the rest of the oil in the exhaust system. About 3 minutes later I was no longer burning oil.

I can't speak to the general quality of this product, but in this specific application, it failed miserably and caused a dangerous situation, if not for the actual engine, but for the drivers behind me as that first plume of smoke came out. I ended up buying a PCV from the dealership and have had no problems. Negligible price difference, and small price to pay for a working engine and exhaust system.

            Comments about Purolator PCV Valve:

this one is easy to use, but the pcv fell apart while I was installing it. So I took it back to the store and exchange it for another one and it worked fine.

The quality of this Purolator is not as good as Honda OEM, the OEM Honda pcv was stuck due to the lack of maintenance.

The issue is the manufacture needs to pressed/dented it not putting together with high temperature glue so when the mechanic presses into the gromet the pcv does not falls apart dropping the spring and washer mechanism.

Then again the pcv is inexpensive so some cost cutting methods were use in making this product. Hopefully it works well for the next 30,000 miles. Furthermore, most plastic pcv aftermarket are made using similar method. I saw some have the indentation pressed so the pcv does not fall apart.

                  Comments about Purolator PCV Valve:

Purolator products have a consistant reputation for quality and applicability; their own website is very useful in crossing parts, which is how I confirmed Advance Auto's contention that the part was an exact replacement for the original Lexus part.

For my own machines and for my customers requirements, I always choose Purolator first when an OEM product is not available or otherwise impractical.

On many ratings sights, Purolator comes out on top for build quality and efficacy of function. I use Purolator filters in every possible application - lawn mowers, autos, hydraulic lines - everywhere I can.
