Check Vehicle Fit

Dirt and even rust can enter the fuel stream at any point along the long journey from refinery to your vehicle’s fuel tank. So, your fuel filter becomes the final line of defense against damaging contaminants getting into your vehicle. Clean fuel, free from dirt particles and rust, is essential for the smooth and efficient operation of your vehicle. A tiny grain of dirt can clog injectors, leading to erratic performance and poor gas mileage. Clean fuel increases gas mileage and improves engine performance - and with the fluctuating cost of gas these days, that’s really important!

Product Features:
  • Defense against damaging contaminants
  • Helps increase gas mileage
  • Improves engine performance

    Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

This product does not come with new clips for installation. I would have purchased the Fram fuel filter, but you were out of stock. The Purolater filter was the same price as the Fram.
When it comes to filters Fram will always be my first choice.

Need a mechanic to help install this fuel filter. My air filter made in the USA but the fuel filter made in China. Takes jobs away from Americans.

              Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

My local store (Advance) has ONE part listing and is unaware of the fact that my vehicle may have been manufactured with two different fuel line/fitting sizes. This part (3/8")does not fit, and all I get from the guys at the counter is "I don't know". NAPA carries both type/sizes (3/8' and 5/16"), and so should you. I'll be returning the part and going to "the other guys".

                    A:

For replacing this Purolator Fuel Filter -part# F65574 on your 2006 Mustang, remove the fuel-pump relay from the fuse block. The relay will be labeled. Remove the gas cap. Turn the engine on to use up the fuel that is in the system. Lift the driver’s side of the car with a floor jack and lower it securely onto a jack stand. You can also drive the car up onto ramps to access the fuel filter. Remove the plastic shroud that conceals the fuel filter by removing the bolts that hold it on. The fuel lines are held onto the fuel filter with quick-release fittings. Press the release tab on the fittings with a flat -head screwdriver to release them. Pull the fuel lines off the filter. Wipe up any spilled fuel. Install the new fuel filter by sliding the fuel lines and the fuel-line fittings into place, ensuring that the arrow on the filter points towards the front of the car. Pull on the fuel lines to make sure they are securely installed. Reinstall the plastic shroud. Re install the fuel - pump relay. Turn the key to the "On" position but do not start the engine. Turn the key five times to prime the fuel system. Turn the key to the start position to start the motor. Look under the car to make sure the fuel system is not leaking. For any further assistance, you may also visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.

                  • A:

There is a fuel filter line tool that you will need (Autocraft
Part No. AC503/W83130) that will release the clips on the inside of the fuel line ends so that you can disconnect and remove the old filter. This tool may very in size by vehicle, depending on the fule line size. For fords, it most likely requires the 5/16" line tool.

A general mileage is about 20k-30k miles. However, always refer back to your maintanance schedule from the dealer if possible.
