Check Vehicle Fit

Dirt and even rust can enter the fuel stream at any point along the long journey from refinery to your vehicle’s fuel tank. So, your fuel filter becomes the final line of defense against damaging contaminants getting into your vehicle. Clean fuel, free from dirt particles and rust, is essential for the smooth and efficient operation of your vehicle. A tiny grain of dirt can clog injectors, leading to erratic performance and poor gas mileage. Clean fuel increases gas mileage and improves engine performance - and with the fluctuating cost of gas these days, that’s really important!

Product Features:
  • Defense against damaging contaminants
  • Helps increase gas mileage
  • Improves engine performance

Perfect diesel fuel filter for my 2004 VW Jetta TDI sedan. Competitive low price, good quality, and no-hassle installation. I change the fuel filter regularly, since I drive alot (>38K mi annually). This is my go-to filter, and I've had no problems with it.

          You must prime

          Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

None of these will work if you install empty. Either use a mighty vac to pull fuel through or fill it on the workbench with diesel before you install it. I have prefilled mine every time and it works every time - 193,000 miles into the process.

We do not have one listed online, however you may want to check your local Advance Auto Parts store to see if they can get it for you. If they can not get one for you either, you may want to try and make your own.

Should i fill or partialy fill the new filter w/ diesel fuel (it's a deisel engine) before replacing to prevent air lock? When installed the filter is upright.

Yes. Fully fill the fuel filter with clean diesel via the fuel control valve port. Remember to replace the o rings on the control valve. The control valve is the part that is held in place by the funny spring clip on top of the fuel filter.

The injection pump from what I understand is self priming, but to save on your starter and battery wear, you could prime with a diesel purge or very clean diesel fuel, filling from the top.
