Check Vehicle Fit

Dirt and even rust can enter the fuel stream at any point along the long journey from refinery to your vehicle’s fuel tank. So, your fuel filter becomes the final line of defense against damaging contaminants getting into your vehicle. Clean fuel, free from dirt particles and rust, is essential for the smooth and efficient operation of your vehicle. A tiny grain of dirt can clog injectors, leading to erratic performance and poor gas mileage. Clean fuel increases gas mileage and improves engine performance - and with the fluctuating cost of gas these days, that’s really important!

Product Features:
  • Defense against damaging contaminants
  • Helps increase gas mileage
  • Improves engine performance

Does not include hose retention ridge

Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

While this filter fit, it did not include the ridge near the end of the nipple like the OEM filter . This ridge helps keep the hose on the nipple. Puro had no useful response when I pointed out it was missing. It's not really any cheaper than buying a Bosch or Mann online that does include the ridge.

    Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

Replacing the gas filter fixed the intermittent morning rough idle and occasional stall. On occasion the car did not even want to run at all. Also the P0171 lean condition Engine Code on the VW Golf 2.0L engine went away.
Replacement was relatively easy, plastic push tabs release the old filter, the gas hose just slips onto the new filter.
I already ordered a second filter to replace it on the Beetle. Considering the range of symptoms that this fixed on the Golf, this should be the first thing to replaced before even looking at other possible culprits..

      Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

Did a fuel filter as part of a series of tuneup/upkeep jobs my car needs and I have to say this product has definitely done the job. At least as good as OEM, my car feels like it definitely has smoother pickup and the average MPG is still steadily increasing according to the computer. I can't say its any better than OEM, since my car badly needed this change, but it gets the job done and well and is identical to the VW filter I had in it previous to this.

How do I install a fuel filter on my 2005 VW Passat 1.8l turbo?

              A:

Fuel filter on your 2005 VW Passat is located under the car on the rear passenger side. You will need to remove the rear under-lining to get to it. You would need a 10mm socket and a Philips head screw driver. As always before attempting any underbody repairs, ensure that the car does not shake or roll. Placing 2 dumb jacks is recommended. The filter should be clearly visible after dropping the lining. It is held in place by a circular clamp and 2 10mm bolts. Remove the clamp and slide it to the rear, you should be able to open it a bit and get it off the hose. Remove the front clamp first. Use a small vice grip pliers to pinch the hose at the rear so as to minimize fuel spillage. A can of compressed air is helpful in removing any dust or debris from around the hoses before separating the filter from the hose. Separate the front hose from the filter. There will be a small amount of fuel spilling out from both the hose and the filter. The spill can be controlled by placing your thumb on both ends and turning the front hose slightly upwards. The new filter comes with a small plastic cap on one end; this is useful to control spills as well. Place the cap on the front end of the filter. Now separate the rear hose from the old filter and place thumb over the hose. Now immediately connect the new filter. Remove the vice grip pliers, gravity and pressure from the gas tank should slowly prime the filter with fuel. This should give you enough time to attach a new hose clamp at the rear of the filter. Now remove the plastic cap from the front of the filter and connect the front hose to it. Place a new hose clamp on this end as well. Replace the circular clamp and secure the new filter in place. With the car running, check for leaks. If none, turn of the car and replace under-lining.
