Check Vehicle Fit

Dirt and even rust can enter the fuel stream at any point along the long journey from refinery to your vehicle’s fuel tank. So, your fuel filter becomes the final line of defense against damaging contaminants getting into your vehicle. Clean fuel, free from dirt particles and rust, is essential for the smooth and efficient operation of your vehicle. A tiny grain of dirt can clog injectors, leading to erratic performance and poor gas mileage. Clean fuel increases gas mileage and improves engine performance - and with the fluctuating cost of gas these days, that’s really important!

Product Features:
  • Defense against damaging contaminants
  • Helps increase gas mileage
  • Improves engine performance

    Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

The Purolator filter is a heavy duty filter constructed with premium materials. A lightweight filter that does its job and more, pops right on very simply. Doesn't make a huge dent in your wallet either, this fuel filter is something I would recommend to my closest family and friends for its excellent value and function. Constructed and polished to look and feel great, this is a filter I would use again and again for the life of my motor vehicle. Thanks again to the friendly people down at Purolator.

            Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

I bought this to replace a Duralast fuel filter I had previously purchased and just installed. The duralast was bad for some reason. The trailblazer was getting misfires and developed a lope after replacing the fuel filter. It actually sounded as if I had put an advanced cam shaft into it. I bought the new Purolator Fuel filter, some AC Delco Iridium plugs, and a BWD ignition coil. Once I replaced these parts and cleaned the throttle body with the battery disconnected to reset the PCM, the Trailblazer was good to go. Truck runs great now no misfires.

The Purolator Fuel filter is easy to use. I liked that unlike some other filter brands, Purolator still stamps which port is in and which is out.

              Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

It was an easy install for me I think especially so since the strap holding it up was broken so it just kind of sits up in there not really held in by much. Took out fuel pump relay under hood, cranked truck for 5-10 sec to relieve fuel pressure, changed filter, replaced relay, turned key to acc wait for fuel pump to build pressure back up, started right back up.

Where is the fuel filter located on my 2002 GMC Envoy XL and how do you replace it?

                  A:

The fuel filter on your 2002 GMC Envoy XL should be located under the truck on the right frame well, forward of the gas tank. Raise the hood on the Envoy and locate your power distribution center. Take the cover off and then use a pair of relay-puller pliers to remove the fuel pump relay. You can remove the relay by hand, but for safety purposes, use the pliers instead. Open the fuel door and remove the gas cap slowly to depressurize the fuel tank. Start the engine and allow the truck to run until it stalls out. After the engine stalls, attempt to start it back up three more times. The engine may run again and then quickly stall. By the third attempt, however the engine will have exhausted all of the fuel pressure and any available gasoline. Disconnect the black (negative) cable from the battery with a socket wrench. Move the cable completely away from its post so accidental contact with the battery or other metal in the engine area doesn't happen. Put on your safety glasses and slide under the Envoy head first near the rear driver’s-side tire. Locate the fuel filter on the frame rail. It will have fuel lines connected to it. Wipe all of the dirt off each fuel line connected to the fuel filter for two feet in both directions using a shop rag. It’s also a good idea to wipe down the old fuel filter too, even though you’re going to remove it. Place a metal catch pan beneath the fuel filter and then, one at a time, remove the fuel lines from the filter. The quick-connect fitting can be removed by squeezing in the tabs on the fitting while pulling it off the nipple of the fuel filter. Loosen the bolt on the clamp holding the fuel filter in place and then slide the filter out of the clamp. Install the new fuel filter back into the clamp and re-tighten the clamp’s bolt until snug. Before you hook the fuel lines back up, make sure the arrow on the fuel filter is pointing toward the engine and not the gas tank. Connect the fuel lines by pushing each of the quick-connect fittings back onto the new fuel filter’s nipples until you hear them “click” into place. Check their connection by gently pulling on them if you don’t hear a click when connecting both lines. Place the gas cap back on tightly and then reinstall the fuel pump relay. Secure the negative battery cable back to its post, then start the engine and check for leaks. If no leaks are observed take the Envoy for a test drive. This Purolator Fuel Filter - part# F55577 is an exact fit for your 2002 GMC Envoy XL. A:

The fuel filter on your 2003 GMC Envoy should be located on the driver's side. The inlet and outlet fuel hoses are on the same end of the filter and are attached with quick connect fittings. Replacing of fuel filter depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
