Check Vehicle Fit

Dirt and even rust can enter the fuel stream at any point along the long journey from refinery to your vehicle’s fuel tank. So, your fuel filter becomes the final line of defense against damaging contaminants getting into your vehicle. Clean fuel, free from dirt particles and rust, is essential for the smooth and efficient operation of your vehicle. A tiny grain of dirt can clog injectors, leading to erratic performance and poor gas mileage. Clean fuel increases gas mileage and improves engine performance - and with the fluctuating cost of gas these days, that’s really important!

Product Features:
  • Defense against damaging contaminants
  • Helps increase gas mileage
  • Improves engine performance

a fuel filter is a fuel filter

    By

    Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

This fuel filter works just fine. No, it's not the same size as stock. No, it doesn't come with a mounting bracket. This filter STILL WORKS. A fuel filter is, guess what, STILL A FUEL FILTER.
The lines on your truck will fit this filter. There should be just enough slack in the lines to fit. There should be a loom already in place to hold the lines. Use the old mounting bracket, bend the fingers out to fit this larger filter, and zip tie it in place. If you're replacing your own fuel filter, you should be able to handle this.
I replaced mine this afternoon, and immediately drove an hour combined highway and city. No issues. If it looks like a filter, it fits like a filter, and it acts like a filter, it's a dang filter!

    Comments about Purolator Fuel Filter:

THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT FUEL FILTER FOR A 2002 FORD RANGER, 4X2, 2.3L. NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE. THE "PARTS SPECIALIST" INSISTED THAT THIS WAS THE ONLY FUEL FILTER LISTED FOR MY VEHICLE. THIS PART IS DOUBLE THE SIZE OF THE CORRECT PART, DOES NOT HAVE THE MOUNTING BRACKET AND WOULD BE A FIRE HAZARD IF INSTALLED AS A REPLACEMENT. ADVANCE AUTO DOES NOT LIST THE CORRECT REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTER FOR THIS TRUCK. HAD TO GET PART FROM ONE OF THEIR COMPETITORS WHO LISTED THE CORRECT PART AND THIS PART DEPENDING ON APPLICATION. "PARTS SPECIALIST" AT THIS ADVANCE AUTO STORE WAS VERY RUDE WHEN I POLITELY ASKED IF THERE WAS A DIFFERENT ONE LISTED. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH SERVICE.

Yes, the inlet/outlet size in this Purolator Fuel Filter is 5/16" or 0.31" and is an ideal fit for your 2003 Ford Ranger.

Some Fords ask for a special line release tool.

Answered on 5/13/2010 by Kevin from AAP
          • A:

Most of them have a plastic quick release clip. Push down on the clip and pull the hose off. Most times the clip is either white or green and it is located on the expanded part that attaches to the filter. NOTE: DO NOT TRY TO PULL THE CLIP OUT as the clip is a solid circle designed to have the filter pass through. There is a larger ring that the filter passes through and a smaller slot that catches the flair out part of the filter. This piece is pushed back into place on the filter with a spring like action.
