08 passat installation. Remove two plastic thumb screws from styrofoam insulation under glovebox area of dash. Untuck the insulation from glovebox trim and remove carefully. The screws hold the middle, but the edges are tucked in place. Find rectangular cover and slide it toward passenger door. Cover drops down and filter is sitting on top of it. Pull filter out and install new one. Filter has slits cut in frame so it will bend a little in order to go up into filter compartment.

Comments about Purolator Cabin Air Filter:

After being skeptical about paying a premium price for this filter, all that went away once I removed the old filter out of my Tiguan and realized how flimsy and thin the filter was. Plus this filter last twice as long as the other so the difference in price doe not really matter. From now on, Purolator will be the only cabin filters I use.

This filter is an ideal sustitute for VW's expensive filter. I am not mechanically inclined but I was able to install this very easily.

Changed the cabin air filter due to mildew smell coming from vents...what a difference. There is no noticeable smell after putting the new Purolator filter in. Well worth the price.

The only comment I have is that the instructions for installation in my VW Jetta, were far more complicated than the install actually was. No tools required for a 2006 VW Jetta.

Worked well in 2007 VW Jetta. Remove old one from under the golve box by your feet. Then pop the new one in. Instant increase in air flow.
The minutes total time... 10000 miles of clean air.

                            A:

On the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta, the cabin filter is located underneath the glove box. Remove the plastic screws holding underneath and gently pull down a piece of foam insulation. Once the insulation is removed you can see the filter 8 inch long by 2 inch wide black plastic face plate. Slide the face plate towards the passenger side door. The face plate will now come off. Now pull down the filter. Debris will come out onto the floor mat below. Insert the new cabin filter, put the face plate back up an slide toward he drivers side to lock in place.
