Comments about Purolator Cabin Air Filter:

This was a perfect fit on my 2000 Chevy Tahoe LT 5.3L V8 4WD. The cabin air filter is located under the glove box. To remove the cover in this area can be tricky -- one of the screws for this cover is very difficult to remove, but can be done. Once this main cover is off, it's only one screw and one clip to remove the cover for the cabin air filter housing. Note that two identical filters fit in this area (side by side), so you get two filters in one box with this purchase.

Comments about Purolator Cabin Air Filter:

My 2000 GMC Sierra 3 door manual states there is no cabin air filter. "Wrong"
If you remove the sound insulator panel on the passage side and look close, you will see a small removable access panel on the left side of the blower motor. This is where the two air filter banks are.
I only discovered this when replacing the blower motor speed resistor. When you pull out the resistor you can see part of the air filter.

ABOUT THE FIT! The original Delco AC and the Purolator filter area is the same size but the Delco AC has a 1/16" cloth fiber sealing edge around the filters and the Purolator does not. Without this sealing edge the Purolator leaves about a 3/16" gape between the last air filter and the edge of the filter box which exposes the heating coil and lets outside air go around the air filters. So when replacing them you will need to install a 1/4-inch foam gasket between the filter backs to remove the gape.
I also sprayed Febreze on the intake side (only) of the air filter and let it dry before installing. It filter works great and provides a fresh air smell.

Comments about Purolator Cabin Air Filter:

The cabin filters were easy to install and came with good instructions. The old cabin filters on my 2001 GMC truck had not been changed for over 74,000 miles. Needless to say, they were jambed full of leaves, dirt and other debris. The new filters allowed better airflow. Lesson learned, make sure you replace your cabin filters as recommended by your vehicles manufacturer. In my case about every 30,000 miles.

Hi Dave, glad to help you! To get more specific information on the location of this part I would recommend purchasing a Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, not only will it show the location and also explain how to install, but you'll find it handy for many more projects on your vehicle. The exact repair manual part number for your vehicle is 24066.

Hi BT! That's a great question., I could be of help. The cabin air filters on a 2000 GMC Sierra can be found in the heater box above the lower panel, which is mounted below the glove box. Drop the plastic panel and three 7-mm screws, then you will see a black access panel, with one screw holding it up. The two filters are located there. If you want to change the cabin air filter, use a 7-mm socket. Remove the four screws holding the under-dash cover from under the glove box. Two of these are recessed and hard to see but if you run your fingers along the underside of the cover you will find them.

This is incorrect. The black boxes on the back of the cab keep the cab from being sealed completely. The cabin air filters are located in the heater box under the dash. You will need a 7/32" socket to remove the screw to access them.
