Comments about Proform Air Pump Idler Bracket:

The pulley included is not the right diameter. It works, but because of this the serpentine belt pulls off the end of this at a bit of an angle. I'd be willing to bet you'll wear through serpentine belts real quick with this.

  • Q:

I installed this pulley on my truck and it is now throwing the belt. Is this a quality issue or do I have to fabricate the bracket?

Hi Diddy, my answer to your question on the ProForm Air Pump Idler Bracket - part# 68110 is that try pulling belt off and using a small string instead of the belt just for alignment purposes. Then tighten the string so that it is tight and laying in the bottom of every sheave in every pulley where the belt would lie. Now have a good look at the string and see how the pulleys line up and if they are all square to each other or not. From that you should be able to see which way the pulley is off and adjust accordingly by adding or removing washers as needed to get everything perfectly straight. Then re-install the proper belt making sure that the belt is not bottoming out in the sheaves of the pulleys. It should rest high up on the sheaves. Adjust tension and tighten. However, I would suggest you to get assistance from a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis in order to avoid intermittence.
