Comments about Pro-King Automatic Transmission Solenoid:

Did not fit 98 F150. Solenoids were correct, but the plug doesn't fit trans with a solid snap in harness.

      A:

Hi Edward, happy to help you! Automatic transmission solenoid is located inside the transmission. The automatic control solenoid is part of a unit called the solenoid pack that functions like a sensor signaling the engine by adding or alleviating the hydraulic pressure of the system. This allows you to shift between gears smoothly. Each automatic transmission solenoid either energizes (shifting into Drive) or deactivates (Neutral or Park) the shifting gear. This combination results in the separate gears for automatic transmissions. If a solenoid malfunctions, you will experience difficulty in shifting your vehicle. This is often a very easy problem to fix and can be diagnosed and repaired quickly.

  • Q:

what does this part do. my 94 f150 engine runs smooth as silk however, when i put it in drive and go down the road you can feel it shifting through the gears but engine then runs as though stuck in overdrive. could this part have anything to do this
Asked on 7/26/2011 by Anonymous from flint michigan

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The solenoid receives electronic signals from sensors placed at various points on the engine. These signals, generated from vehicle and engine speed, cause the solenoid to open and close hydraulic valves inside the transmission to shift the gears. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
