  • Q:

I have a 2007 Saturn outlook can I change the autotrans fluid without taking the trans apart. I understand the filter cannot be changed without disassembling the trans. Thanks Harry

Yes, Harry! Because many transmission pans don't have drain plugs, changing the fluid can be a messy proposition – the entire pan must be removed. But even on vehicles that do have drain plugs, the pan still must be removed to change the filter.

Hello Odly, happy to help! For your type of vehicle the filter is only accessible if the transmission is disassembled. If you are going to do this we suggest getting a certified mechanic or the repair manual.

Hi Seth, this part does not come with gasket. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. The repair manual part number is 36014.

Most transmission experts say regular transmission fluid and filter changes every 25,000 to 30,000 miles can significantly prolong the life of the transmission.
