Comments about Prestone Synthetic Brake Fluid (12 fl. oz.):

I noticed I needed to add some brake fluid to the master cylinder. I was buying some other items on line, so I just added this to the order.

I like the fact it is synthetic. For those out there who question synthetic vs. "standard" oil derived products, I can only speak of my experience with synthetics and say I think they are a much better product. The consistency of the molecular structures are controlled and constant, something that can't be said about plain old oil.

I trust the Preston name, and the price was right.

Comments about Prestone Synthetic Brake Fluid (12 fl. oz.):

Ok, so its brake fluid. My point exactly - this meets the DOT3 specifications so why pay more for a name? Used this to top off brake fluid after changing pads/rotor. No issues whatsoever.

Honda says don't use regular DOT3, only "Honda DOT3", what is the difference. More important, where the heck does one find Honda DOT3. No auto parts store I have found has it. Anyone know if I should listen to Honda's dire warning?

I'm glad to assist, Laserray! There is nothing special about Honda's DOT 3 Brake Fluid. Prestone DOT 3 Brake Fluid is fully compatible and a suitable replacement for it.

              A:

If you are standing in front of your Jeep with the hood open, look on the firewall behind the engine. If you look towards the driver side of the firewall, you should see a little plastic reservoir sitting on top of what is know as the master cylinder. The master cylinder should have metal lines coming out from it and the master cylinder should be attached to a black contraption know as the brake booster at the rear. You add the brake fluid to this reservoir.

If 12 fl. oz. is $2.49, calculating the price per ounce and applying it to liters gives about $7.02.
