  • Q:

I have a 1984 Mercedes 300D diesel. Is there any reason to NOT use this less expensive power steering fluid as compared to the more expensive one?
Asked on 12/31/2013 by George from United States

    1 answer

Great question, George! For your 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D diesel Mercedes-Benz has a specification of 236.3 that is recommended for your vehicle. This fluid does not meet that specification. Here is a link to Mercedes-Benz product recommendation that meet the 236.3 specification: http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/236.3_en.html. I would recommend speaking with a certified mechanic that has experience with Mercedes-Benz. If you need help finding a mechanic click on the Need Repair Help? link further down this page.

  • Q:

will this work for brake fluid in petroleum based brake systems
Asked on 7/20/2013 by lee from here

    1 answer

No, brake fluid is usually much higher density hydraulic fluid as well as different type than is power steering fluid. In vehicles with ABS systems it will damage sensors and seals, and in any vehicle it will result in spongy, poorly operating brakes and damaged seals.
