Comments about Powercraft Steering Gear Lower Pitman Shaft Seal Kit:

I wish I read the reviews first. The diagram is wrong like the others said. I read the instructions, and put the kit in as they read and not how the seals came out of the gear box. Took all morning to get the box back in, and then boom, the seal blew right out. Please don't do what I did. Now I have to see if I can't even salvage the seals and start all over.

Comments about Powercraft Steering Gear Lower Pitman Shaft Seal Kit:

I would recommended this product ! I had to remove the steering box , the diagram is not correct after Pittman arm is removed you will have a boot then the lower seal then the snap ring then the metal washer then the inner seal that has the plastic washer on it, This kit repaired the leak for me, I have the
original steering box never touched 210,000 miles ,

          A:

I'm happy to help, Don C! When looking for product application information, please make sure to provide the year of your Dodge Dakota Sport extended cab 3.9L MFI V6. The vehicle cannot have both a pitman arm and rack & pinion. Pitman arms are found with recirculating ball steering. Rack & pinions are their own type of steering system. Based on my research, it looks like you have a rack & pinion if you have RWD. The correct seal kit for your vehicle is Powercraft Heavy Duty Steering Gear Major Seal Kit (Part No. 8924). Don't forget to pick up a repair manual for your vehicle (Haynes Part No. 30021 or Chilton Part No. 20404)
